An unforgettable Jungle Experience
With low footfall and limited park entry passes, Satpura National Park truly is a hidden gem for the discerning traveller. Shortlisted as one of the only few UNESCO World Heritage Site National Parks in India, Satpura’s dry and moist deciduous forests are famed for their rich biodiversity of flora and fauna.
The landscape is undulating and rugged, with tall sandstone peaks, narrow gorges and ravines. The altitude ranges from 300 to 1350 metres within the Park, and multiple scenic rivers cut through the hills and dense forests.

While Satpura may not be your ideal destination for ‘high chances’ to spot tigers, the Park is well worth the visit for the diverse activities and the variety of game and birdlife.
November to March – Dry, cool season
Satpura is skirted by the backwaters of the Denwa and Sonbhadra Rivers on the north and west side. It’s one of the few parks in the country that offer exclusive boating and canoeing experiences. While the water levels recede by late summer, November to february will still have good levels of water to experience the forest by boat.
This is also the long fall season when the forest changes every passing month as the season progresses. Travelers get to witness the changing colors of fall and enjoy the cool weather. The visibility also starts to increase and the receding water levels open up more safari routes.
The number of vehicles allowed into the park are regulated, so that feeling of quiet exclusivity and not having too many vehicles crowded around a special sighting is a distinct advantage compared with some of the other reserves.
